Osaka is the central city of western Japan, and while the city center is lined with high-rise office buildings and commercial facilities, there are also many historical buildings such as ancient burial mounds and temples and shrines. Osaka is also known as the city of “kuidaore,” or “eating,” and has a well-developed food culture, with takoyaki (octopus dumplings) and okonomiyaki (okonomiyaki) being among the most famous.
