Oguri-dorayaki
Japanese notation "茜丸 大栗どらやき"
Dorayaki from Akanemaru, an anko maker in Shitennoji, Osaka. As the name “Ookuri Dorayaki” suggests, it is a large-sized dorayaki with a large chestnut inside.
On the back of the package is an illustration of “Akane Taro” who is said to be modeled after the president of Akanemaru.
The word “Akanemaru” is dynamically branded on the dorayaki skin. It looks like a standard dorayaki, but the skin is very thick and looks very satisfying. The overall size of the dorayaki is quite large and thick. It is very heavy and substantial.
Very thick dorayaki crust with a fluffy and firmer texture. It is the opposite concept of “Dorasen” from Suzuki shop in Okayama Prefecture.
Inside, we could see large chestnuts. The chestnuts are very large, as well as the red bean paste.
Large chestnuts! I was a little surprised to enjoy such firm chestnuts. The flavor of the dorayaki is standard and tasty, but the chestnuts are the most distinctive feature, making this a very satisfying dish.
