Kotsurigane Tamago-senbei
Japanese notation "小釣鐘 玉子煎餅"
“Kotsurigane Tamago-senbei” made by Tsuriganeya Honpo, established in 1900 in Naniwa-ku, Osaka City, is a sponge cake flavored egg sembei, rice cracker, with a motif of the “Great Temple Bell of Shitennoji,” which has become their symbol of this confectionery.
The large temple bell of Shitennoji Temple is a huge bell that once existed, standing nearly 8 meters high. It was the world’s largest temple bell at that time, but it became a phantom at the end of the Pacific War due to a metal recall ordinance.
The bite-sized rice cracker is shaped like a large Buddhist bell.
The deformed shape of the bell is cute, just like Tsuriganeya Honpo’s signature product, Tsurikane Manju.
Likewise Tsurigane-manju or bite-sized sponge cake, the rice cracker is made from their unique dough. With a crispy texture, a delicious wheat and egg flavors, the rice cracker tastes just like sponge cake.
