Yamaguchi

Surrounded on three sides by the Sea of Japan, the Seto Inland Sea, and the Hibikinada Sea, Yamaguchi Prefecture is characterized by its beautiful sea and mild climate. The prefecture is also home to the Kakunoshima Bridge, Akiyoshidai, one of the largest karst plateaus in Japan, and Akiyoshido, a large limestone cave. Yamaguchi Prefecture, once known as the Choshu domain, is also famous as the birthplace of many of Japan’s most influential historical figures, including Shoin Yoshida, Shinsaku Takasugi, Takayoshi Kido, Hirobumi Ito, and Aritomo Yamagata.
