Miyazaki Prefecture is blessed with blue skies and seas and a mild climate throughout the year, as can be seen on the Nichinan coast with its tropical scenery. There is an area called Takachiho, which is believed to be the place of the descent of the grandchildren in Japanese mythology, and there are many shrines and other historical sites that remain as the setting for the myth. Nobeoka City in Miyazaki Prefecture is also famous as the birthplace of “Chicken Nanban,” a dish that is extremely popular throughout Japan.
