Bizen-yaki Milk Manju
Manjuu with a "Hidasuki" pattern unique to Bizen ware
Japanese notation "みかんクッキー"
“Mikan Cookies” made by Okazaki Kihō-an in Hashimoto City, Wakayama Prefecture, are cookies made by kneading Wakayama Mikan(mandarin orange) juice into the dough.
Kneading “Mikan” into the cookie dough is a novel idea. From the appearance of the fresh slices of “Mikan” on the package, it is hard to imagine that there are cookies inside.
When opened, the cookie looks very standard.
The presence of mikan is amazing when you try them. The dough kneaded with plenty of mikan juice has a faint citrus sweet and sour taste that goes well with the cookies.
These cookies were a unique concept that makes the most of mikan, which is unique to Wakayama Prefecture.
