Cheese Manju

Cheese bun looks like a traditional Western confectionery.

“Cheese Manju” made by Okashiji-Ueno, a long-established confectionery shop established in 1949 (Showa 24) in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, is a sweet cheese bun

When it comes to Miyazaki Prefecture’s confectionery souvenirs, “sweet cheese buns” have become a standard confectionary that cannot be missed. Various confectioners in Miyazaki City seem to make it, and all of them have their own originality.  It is fun to have by comparing them.

Okashiji-Ueno also makes high quality of cheese buns by utilizing their techniques piled up from their experiences.

Cheese Manju in Miyazaki Prefecture is characterized by their biscuit-like manju dough filled with fresh cheese. I always feel that “cheese buns” are a new genre among Western confectionery. Each bun has a high degree of perfection, and the taste is very European.

This cheese bun also goes well with the natural flavor of fresh cheese and the subtly sweet cookie dough. I feel that cheese buns themselves are a completed confectionery, and I look forward to seeing many more different type of cheese buns from Miyazaki Prefecture in the future.
