Japanese notation "洋風チーズ饅頭(ゴローズ謹製)"
In recent years, “Cheese manju” have become one of Miyazaki Prefecture’s most famous confections. The cheese manju made by “Goro’s” a cake specialty store in Miyazaki City, are labeled “Western-style”. The tropical, Hawaiian-style packaging is unique.
It is called “Western-style cheese manju” and it looks more like a round sponge cake than a Japanese manju style.
The outer dough is quite moist and financier-like in texture. The sponge dough is thick and firm. Inside you can see fresh cheese. This is said to be cream cheese.
The cake dough itself has a cheese flavor, and the combination with the cream cheese bean paste inside creates a very rich cheese flavor.
