Dorayaki (Shiose-Sohonke)
Japanese notation "どら焼き (塩瀬総本家)"
Shiose-Sohonke is a famous confectionery for “Shiose Monju”, which is called as the original manju, sweet bun. The confecctionery has an amazing long history. They were established in 1349. I bought their another sweet, “Dorayaki”, bean-jam pancake this time.
The large letter Dorayaki acrossing over “5-7 Paulownia” crest mark looks dignified in the center of the package. The “5-7 Paulownia” was originally used by the imperial family in general, and is now often seen used by the Japanese government and the Cabinet Office.
The texture of the crust is extremely fine and beautifully shaped.
It is the “standard” type of dorayaki, and the volume of azuki red bean paste is quite heavy.
This has every elements required for Dorayaki. The dough is delicious and the azuki red bean paste has high quality. The red bean paste is not too sweet and has a rich azuki aroma. It is perfect Dorayaki.
