Cheese manju
Japanese notation "チーズ饅頭(虎彦)"
I bought a “cheese manju” made by Torahiko in Nobeoka City, Miyazaki Prefecture. It seems that cheese manju were first made in Miyazaki Prefecture around 1980, and since then, many confectioners in Miyazaki Prefecture have started to make their own cheese manju, which have now become a specialty of the entire prefecture.
This time I bought a cheese manju from Torahiko, which was established in Nobeoka City in 1949 and is loved by locals of all ages.
The dough has a texture somewhere between cookie and manju skin.
The inside is filled with fresh cream cheese.
The rich, natural sweetness and slightly sour cheese are exquisite. I really enjoy comparing cheese buns from different stores and have become a total cheese bun lover.
