Miyazaki Lemon Cake
Japanese notation "宮崎レモンケーキ"
“Miyazaki Lemon Cake” made by “Sorairo” a small confectionery studio in Takachiho-cho, Miyazaki Prefecture. These petite cakes are made with an abundance of lemons from Miyazaki Prefecture.
It is subtitled “Made in a small confectionery workshop” and features an illustration of a Miyazaki lemon. The package design is cute.
The lemon-shaped sponge cake is covered with what looks like hardened sauce. I thought it was lemon chocolate, but it was more like sugar candy with lemon syrup hardened on top of it.
When cut in half, the cake is fluffy, soft, and hollowy in texture.
The eggs are produced in Miyazaki Prefecture, and the flour and butter are also made in Kyushu. The overall flavor is natural and gentle, but with a gorgeous lemon flavor. This lemon cake made me realize the richness of Miyazaki Prefecture’s food ingredients.
