Mikan-daiko
Japanese notation "柑太鼓"
There are many souvenirs from Yamaguchi Prefecture, but this is “Mikan-daiko” made by Sanin-do, a talented manju that has been loved for a long time.
The flat bun is topped with a summer orange peel.
It has a slightly Western-style manju flavor, and the manju dough has a slight buttery aroma. However, the filling is white bean paste. It is a Japanese-style manjuu.
I felt the traditional Japanese style of this bun, which has a slightly Western taste, was also very much like a traditional Japanese confectionery.
The white bean paste was very delicate and fine-grained, with a refreshing sweetness and a light but present presence. It was a fine white bean paste that spoke of the store’s tradition.
It was an elegant citrus manju.
