Onkuri Tart

A luxurious version of the Hatada Chestnut Tart, using a whole chestnut
The “Onkuri Tart” made by Hatada Honpo in Ehime Prefecture contains a whole chestnut in a traditional Shikoku confectionery tart. It is a luxurious version of the “Hatada Kuri Tart” also made by Hatada Honpo.
This Shikoku specialty tart is famous as a pastry with yuzu-flavored koshian (sweet bean paste) rolled in sponge cake dough. We can see see a whole chestnuts in the center.
A large chestnuts filled in the bean paste.
Looking at the cross section, it is visible to see a whole chestnut contained in the bean paste.
The combination of the sponge cake dough and chestnuts is like a marron cake, and the presence of the yuzu-flavored red bean paste is something that only a Shikoku tart can offer. Yuzu and chestnuts go surprisingly well together. Comparing to the Hatada Kuri Tart, the presence of the chestnuts is incomparable.
