Kanazawa-Bunchō

“Kanazawa-Bunchō(Java sparrow)” made by “Seika Muromachi” in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, is a unique yokan with a completely new concept. The first impact of this product is its package design. The packaging with a cute Java sparrow shape is eye-catching.
The paper is a three-dimensional representation of a paper bird, which may be a technique of origami.
Opening the cute package, what came out was a cube of yokan wrapped in aluminum film.
“This yokan is said to be “black tea flavor. Moreover, it is made from “Kaga black tea” from Ishikawa Prefecture. The color of the yokan is similar to that of Ogura yokan, so it is hard to tell at first glance, but it is not only the packaging or the cube shape that makes it unique.
When the yokan is cut in half, dried fruits mixed into the yokan are revealed. There are various dried fruits such as figs, raisins, blueberries, and cranberries. Dried fruits in yokan is a novelty.
The rich yokan has a delicious aroma of black tea and the crunch of dried fruit. It was a new style, but also a unique dish with the traditional flavor of yokan.
