Rikyuu-san
Japanese notation "利休さん"
I bought a cute size manju “Rikyu-san” made by Fukiage-do in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. What came out of the very cute sized handbag was a super mini-sized manju.
Packaged in packs to preserve freshness, the package contains 10 pieces.
When you open it, you will find mini-sized manju neatly packaged one by one. Cute.
There are two kinds of red bean paste and white bean paste in the package, and the packaging is also neatly separated.
Each one is carefully packaged, and the elaborate appearance also tickles the miniature spirit.
To give you an idea of how big one is, here is how it compares to a Japanese 10-yen coin. It is a genuine bite-sized coin.
It looks like a “manju,” but the size is interesting.
It is a solid standard manjuu when you try it, and both the red bean paste and white bean paste are delicious. The dough is also chewy, probably due to the use of rice flour, and I was surprised at the high level of perfection of the manju. You will be very pleased if you give this cute sized handbag as a souvenir.
