Ichiroku-Tarte Kuri-zukushi

A tart bursting with the flavors of autumn

Ichiroku Tart, with a yuzu flavor is an original taste and is a famous confection made by Ishiroku Honpo.  “Ichiroku-Tarte Kuri-zukushi” is their autumn-limied version.

Designs of chestnuts and maple leaves printed on the package delivers autumn charm. Ichiroku Tart seems to go well with such chestnuts.

The swirled castella roll seems to be modern shape. Yet it’s a surprise to know that the origin of the Ichroku Tarte traces back to its invention during the Edo period.

The finely chopped chestnuts is visible in the filling of bean paste.

The Ichiroku Tarte is characterized by its dense, moist castella-style sponge cake. The rich chestnut flavor pairs perfectly with the tart, and it is so well-crafted.  Wishing it were available as a part of their regular lineup through a year.
