Heian-do Umbotsubo locates in Hiroshima Prefecture is a long-established Japanese confectionery store founded in 1918. The “Gosaku Manju”, is a famous confectionary and is their signature product.
This has been sold in the market for 60 years, and it was recognized by Hiroshima city as “The Hiroshima Brand of Taste,” making it a well-known confectionery in 2008.
A small amount of chopped walnuts is topped on the round shape sweet bun and is baked to golden brown.
A generous amount of mashed sweet bean paste is filled in the sweet bun and the bun skin seems to wrap it evenly.
It tastes aromatic wheat strongly, and the crust is very present. The red bean paste is fully filled and rich and still light and sweet, with a simple taste. It is a delicious taste that explains why it has been popular for so many years.
