Kinako Cream Daifuku

It's soybean flour daifuku, but it is llike a western style confectionery.

“Kinako Cream Daifuku” made by Senjuan Yoshimune in Nara City, Nara Prefecture, is a unique Daifuku, a rice cake filled with soybean flour and fresh cream.

Senjuan Yoshimune has been in business for more than 80 years and is a confectionery shop having a reputation for their “warabimochi” (bracken rice cakes) in particular. Nara Prefecture has been famous for production of “warabi flour” for a long time and “warabi mochi” is one of the most popular souvenir sweets there.

The “Kinako Cream Daifuku” is a rice cake transformed from such warabi mochi and it is filled with kinako, soybean flour and fresh cream.

The texture is so soft and it is difficult to cut in half.  A generous amount of soybean powder is spinkled over the Daifuku and it also includes kinako cream inside.

Warabi mochi and kinako cream meld together. It is extremely delicious. Although Daifuku is made from Japanese sweets ingredients, it tastes like a Western-style confectionery.
