Kamakura Dayori (Plain)

Japanese notation "鎌倉だより (プレーン)"
Kamakura Beniya is a confectionery shop in Kanagawa Prefecture who has recently become popular for their “Kurumikko“, and this “Kamakura Dayori” sable is also well known. This was included in an assortment package given to me the other day.
This is the plain flavor, and there are also “azuki” and “matcha”, powdered green tea, flavors in the lineup.
It shapes like a ginkgo leaf motif and seems to be named after the large ginkgo tree that is a symbol of the Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine in Kamakura.
The surface has a smooth texture. When split in half, the texture is crispy rather than crunchy, and feels more like a hard biscuit than a sable.
It has a rich taste with a mellow aroma of wheat and butter. When it comes to Kamakura’s sablet, there is the classic “Hato-Sablé” willy-nilly. This sablet has a different approach from the Hato-Sablé. All the sablets made by confectioners inKamakukra are high quality.
