Kurumikko
Japanese notation "クルミッ子"
The signature product of “Kamakura Beniya,” which has its main store in Kamakura, is “Kurumikko” a baked pastry made of dough sandwiched between caramel filled with walnuts.
The bite-size confectionery has this lovely appearance.
It is small but with a chunky texture. The caramel is mixed with lots of walnuts and sandwiched between biscuit dough.
I thought it would be difficult to cut it in half because of the mostly caramel, but the raw caramel was so soft that I could easily cut it in half and see the cross section.
You will be surprised at the high quality. The bittersweet adult flavor of the caramel and the generous amount of walnuts blend together as if they were melting. The outer cookie crust is also a high quality biscuit made with plenty of butter, and is of a high level of perfection!
