Custard Cake Inochi (Cherry Blossom)

Jam with subtle aroma of cherry blossoms and cherry leaves

”Lagunoo-Sasaki” locates in  Aomori Prefecture is famous for their apple-based sweets such as “Marugoto Ringo”, meaning a whole apple, and “Patissier’s Apple Sticks“.  And their “Inochi”, meaning life, series of custard cakes have also recently become poplular.  “Sakura” flavor is one of them.

The series including “Inochi Ringo(apple)” and many different line-up have been made and they have made good reputaion.  The package design is also the keynote of the series and is delicate and beautiful.

I think it has become a popular series among the numerous custard sweet buns in Japan, as I have been seeing it really often at various souvenir shops lately.

The cherry blossom-colored sponge cake is filled with custard and jellied cherry leaves.

Of course, the sponge cake and custard cream give it an overall Western taste, but the cherry blossom flavor gives it a slight Japanese flair. It is understandable why it is so popular because of the high quality of the cake.
