Usukurenai-hyakka

Japanese apple glace "Usukurenai" in a bite-size version

Okinaya who was founded in 1918 in Shinmachi, Aomori City is famous for making confectionery using Aomori apples.  This “Usukurenai -hyakka” is a series of Okinaya’s signature confectionery “Usukunai“.

Kougyoku apples, one of apple races, produced in local is used to make this confectionery.

The round slices are boild in sugar and slowly dried, socalled apple glace and it is cut into bite-size pieces.

It is like dried fruit cut into bite-size pieces. Okinaya sticks to use the “Kougyoku apples” because it gives stronger acidic variety other than other races.

The “Kougyoku” variety has a strong acidity, but such acidity comes softer afer processed into a glace and apple flavor get stronger. This completes right sweet apple confectionery.

The apple fruit remains transparent and has a moderate acidity. It is nice to be able to enjoy “Usukurenai” in this size easily.
