Egao-Sansan
Japanese notation "笑顔さんさん"
I bought a new confectionary “Egao-Sansan” from “Ariake”, famous for “Yokohama Harbor“. It is a brown sugar pineapple flavored confectionary, and seems to be based on the concept of Okinawa.
There is an area called “Okinawa Town” in Tsurumi Ward, Yokohama City, where many people from Okinawa used to immigrate to work along with the development of the Keihin Industrial Area. In the area where these people lived, Okinawan culture is still strongly reflected in the restaurants and products, and there are even traditional performing arts events of Okinawan origin.
When you open the package, a manju with a cute sun smiling mark appears. It has a slight aroma of brown sugar.
Inside you can see the original pineapple bean paste. It is said to be a special pineapple bean paste with pineapple sauteed in brown sugar and butter.
The brown sugar flavored manju skin, mellow pineapple flavor red bean paste, and pineapple nuts mixed in for a fun crunchy texture, the pineapple flavored red bean paste is a unique concept, but the taste is natural and in harmony with the whole.
