Matcha Momiji Manju

Authentic matcha green tea dough enhances the sweetness.

”Chanokan” located in Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, is a specialty store that specializes in matcha, a green tea produced by a long-established tea shop that has been in business in Hiroshima for over 60 years. This time I bought a momiji manju made by this store.

When open the package with a beautiful green maple leaf, you will see the standard shape of a so-called “Momiji Manju”. Although the appearance does not yet give the impression of matcha, it has a beautiful, slightly rounded shape.

The matcha dough is a bright matcha color. The contrast between the outer brown, baked dough and the inner matcha-colored dough is strikingly clear.

The matcha dough has a strong flavor! The manju dough has a very strong matcha flavor. I felt that this is a confectionery made by a specialty store that pays particular attention to matcha green tea.
