Meibutsu-Kamado
Japanese notation "名物かまど"
”Meibutsu-Kamado” is a traditional Japanese confectionery from Sakaide City, Kagawa Prefecture, and is representative of Kagawa Prefecture. The name of the store, “Meibutsu Kamado” was created in 1936, and it has been a long-loved confectionery up to the present day.
It is shaped like a kamado, an earthenware furnace made of clay for baking pottery.
The main feature is this yellowish red bean paste made from white kidney beans and egg yolks.
It had a pleasant texture, and it was as if there was a sponge cake-like bean paste inside the outer skin. The taste was simple but not boring, and it went well not only with Japanese tea but also with coffee. It is no wonder that this confectionary has been loved for many years.
