Hachinohe-Potato(squid ink)
Japanese notation "八戸ポテト(イカ墨)"
“Hachinohe Potato (Squid Ink)” made by Dekor in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, is an ambitious creation that kneads squid ink into sweet potato cake. Hachinohe is famous for its delicious squid, but to knead it into sweet potato is a novel idea.
The pastry looks like a cupcake. The presence of squid ink cannot be felt that much yet.
When removed from the cup, the blackness of the squid ink is indeed present, mixed with the sweet potato cake batter, giving it a black tinge.
The natural sweetness of sweet potatoes and the cake batter are delicious. The fluffy texture but richness is probably due to the squid ink, but I did not feel that the taste or flavor of the squid ink came to the forefront of the cake.
Perhaps it is the squid ink that creates the harmony of the whole. It was a unique concept of squid ink sweet potato.
