Sego-Don Bouchée
Japanese notation "西郷どんブッセ"
The packaging of “Sego-Don Bouchée” made by Takumi-ya in Kagoshima Prefecture has a great impact. The strong brush strokes on the packaging show a close-up of Saigo-Takamori’s face with the line “Nmedo” (“It’s delicious” in Kagoshima dialect).
Aside from its dynamic design, the package itself is quite large. In the Satsuma dialect, Mr. Saigo is called “Segodon” instead of “Saigoudon”.
Large! You can tell by the feel that it is fluffy, but it feels very hefty and heavy, probably because of its size.
It is also quite tall when viewed from the side. It has a stout shape and is dynamic enough to live up to its name, Saigo-Don.
The golden cream is made up of two layers of whipped cream and two layers of cream. The golden color is the cream of “Anno sweet potato” which is the pride of Kagoshima prefecture.
Wonderfully delicious. The cream was thick, like sweet potato paste, and combined with the whipped cream, it was exquisite.
This Bouchée is not only large in size, but also incorporates a very delicate ingenuity. These two layers of cream are quite perfect. It is the best souvenir from Kagoshima.
