Ageimo

Tastes like a hot snack served at convenience stores.
“Ageimo” produced by Wakasaya Honpo in Sapporo is a batter-dipped deep-fried sweet potato-flavored cake, which is also the store’s signature product. The “Wakasaimo” a specialty of Lake Toya, is a well-known souvenir from Hokkaido, and the idea of deep frying “imo flavored” sweet potatoes seems to be similar in concep and is an ingenious idea.
“HOKKAIDO AGEIMO” is written in alphabetical characters on the bottom of the package, and since there are so many overseas travelers in recent years, this kind of notation may be more important than expected.
It looks like fried dumplings, and looks so delicious.
A thinly chopped kelp is kneaded into the sweet potato paste inside. This is a very “Wakasaimo” style of making.
The potato bean paste has a very rustic flavor that goes well with the outer fried batter. It is like a slightly sweet potato croquette. Fring potatoes enhances its taste actually. This is a representative Hokkaido approach for sweets.
