Aomori Kougyoku Cheesecake

Kougyoku apple is the best for baked apples, no wonder they go well with cakes.

“Aomori Kougyoku Cheesecake” is made by Hatoya Confectionery in Aomori Prefecture. Hathoya Seika makes many different type of apple sweets such as soft apple and lovely pie. All of them are highly finished and are my personal favorite confectionery.

The Kougyoku apple used in this cheesecake is one of varieties of apple actively grown in Aomori Prefecture, and is said to be the best apple variety for making apple pie because it has a good balance of sweetness and sourness, and has a good texture.

Happy to see that the cheesecake is baked in a cup and quite large.

A backed apple between the fluffy pound cake can be seen.  It is a little hard to see the apple on the photo though, it layed at the bottom.

The pound cake has a faint aroma of cheese, and the sour and the sweet red baked apple fruit goes well. The cake is hearty and satisfying. Another favorite confectionery has been added to my FAV list.
