Ichimatsu (Golden Sesame)
A waffle blending Japanese and Western flavors with the savory aroma of golden sesame
“Ichimatsu (Golden Sesame)” is made by Kashiō Seikan-in in Shimogyō Ward, Kyoto City.

At first glance, it’s hard to tell what kind of candy this is from the package, It is a square and feels solidly heavy confection.

It resembles a confection known as a waffle, featuring a wavy baked dough. Generous amounts of sesame seeds are kneaded into the dough.

The beautiful wavy layers of waffle dough sandwiches vanilla-flavored cream

This Kyoto-like confectionery has a modern yet distinctly Japanese flavor. The sesame and vanilla flavors complement each other beautifully. Moreover, it is quite substantial and very satisfying.
