Tawawa

Dorayaki like a Japanese arranged apple pie with a hint of cinnamon

“Tawawa” made by Shunsaika Tamura Honten in Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture, is a dorayaki, bean jam -filled pancake made with Shinshu’s “Shinano Gold” apples.

The package design is very stylish, printed heavy with apples and centered the dorayaki in the package.  The feature of Shinano Gold, known as the golden apple born in Nagano, is to have a sweet taste with a firm acidity and a refreshing citrus-like flavor.

On the surface, stem end of apple is branded and it looks like an apple.

The apple red bean paste contains plenty of diced Shinano Gold apples. The aroma of cinnamon wafts through the air.

With a hint of cinnamon, it tastes like apple pie. The sweet and sour apple flavor also gives it a fruity-like. Surprisingly the dorayaki crust could match well with the flavor of apple pie.
