Tochigi Biyori
Japanese notation "とちぎ日和"
“Tochigi Biyori” made by Korindo, who has a long history, established in 1885 in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture., is a so-called “Matcha sable” (powdered green tea). One of their signature products is “Miya-no-Kariman” which is a karinto manju, a sweet bun, and I remember how delicious the dough was when I had it before, so I had high expectations for this sablet.
The dark green package color really represents of matcha green tea color.
The dark matcha-colored sablet is easily recognizable with its smooth doughy skin and abundant matcha kneaded into it.
It contais a caramel sauce inside and is a unique combination of matcha sablet and caramel.
The bittersweet, authentic matcha-flavored sablé goes well with the sweetness of the caramel sauce. It is a matcha green tea pastry, but it goes well with coffee as well.
