Gouter de Roi Maharaja
Japanese notation "グーテ・デ・ロワ マハラジャ"
“Gouter de Roi Maharaja” made Gateaufesta Harada in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, is a curry-flavored version of Gouter de Roi, The Gouter de Roi series have an image of sweet rusks, but this can be enjoyed as a snack with alcohol. Incidentally, “Maharaja” means “Great King” in Sanskrit.
The package color is all yellow and it reminds us curry roux. A crown-like turban is printed as the logo in the middle.
Every corner of this rusk is dyed in curry color. Wondering curry powder or any other flavor is applied on the rusks, but it is not. Surprisingly chicken curry sauce is kneaded into the dough and baked.
Veru authentic curry spices, such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, cardamom and laurel are well blended and they are sufficiently infused into the rusk.
Contrary to my expectations, it tastes very rich curry. It is not a just rusks but it tastes full-bodied flavor of curry. I can see the confectioner’s commitment to pursue such authentic curry for the rusks.
