Ume~i noshi Ume
Japanese notation "うめ~いのし梅"
Ukyo, a Japanese restaurant in Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, have made a variety of sweets based on the concept of Tokaido Highway naming “Yaji-san Kita-san. What I bought this time is Ume~i noshi Ume, a bite-sized noshi ume, plum sandwiched between bamboo leaves.
In the Edo period (1603-1867), travelers used to carry pickled plums crossing Hakone on their journeys, and Odawara’s plums became famous and a specialty there.
A bite-sized noshi-ume, plum is placed between folded bamboo leaves.
They use plums gathered in Soga Plum Grove, Odawara. Noshi-ume itself is also famous in Yamagata Prefecture, and Ukyo’s brand, “Yaji-san Kita-san” series represents their dedication by using the local ingredients in Kanagawa Prefecture.
It tastes natural sweetness and sour , really delicious. It has a simple taste, but the sourness of the plums seems to be good for our health.
