Japanese notation "おかげさま"
Rokkatei’s “Okage-sama” is a confection made with “gianduja” sandwiched between two pieces of monaka dough. The “gianduja” is a paste of roasted hazelnuts and almonds combined with sugar and couverture chocolate.
Monaka with couverture chocolate is a bold concept that blends the Japanese and Western worlds, but the package design is a delicate Rokkatei-like design.
It is firmly made of monaka dough.
The monaca is board-like and thick like a cookie. The sandwiched gianduja also has a light texture with plenty of air.
It is crisp and light, but the rich chocolate flavor of the gianduja and the savory taste of the nuts spread out. The light monaka dough and chocolate flavor go well together, and I felt it was a well-thought-out balance.
