Nokogiri Senbei

Unique taste of jagged sawtooth and aosa seaweed

The “Nokogiri(saw blade) Senbei” made by Fujita Seika in Akita City, Akita Prefecture, is, as the name suggests, a rice cracker shaped like a saw blade.

The price is a reasonable 200 yen, including tax, for a quantity of eight pieces.

The rice crackers are filled with a large amount of “Aosa-nori” (seaweed).

The edge of the rice cracker is jagged, just like a saw blade.

It is about 3mm thick and has a thin texture that can be cracked open. It is a wheat-based rice cracker made of simple ingredients.

The rice cracker dough itself is slightly sweet and seems to contain butter. The rustic taste of wheat is accompanied by the seaside flavor of aosa nori seaweed. I found it to be a unique flavor with a peculiar feel.
