Sliced Kaki Yokan

The same delicious persimmon that has been around for 180 years.

Kaki Yokan” made by “Tsuchiya” in Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture, is a famous historical confectionery created 180 years ago in 1838. The “Sliced Kaki Yokan” that I bought this time is a handy-sized version sold in individually wrapped packages.

Tsuchiya offers a full lineup of sweets that make use of persimmons, and persimmon yokan is one of the most representative of these. The ingredients are simple: persimmon, sugar, maltose, agar, and white beans.

It is semi-circular in shape and has a beautiful golden transparency.

The color of this yokan is like that of a ripe persimmon fruit. When cut in half, the aroma of persimmon is wafting through the air.

The simple sweetness of the persimmon is delicious, and the fact that you can buy it by the slice is a very welcome bonus. It is also surprising that this is a candy created 180 years ago.
