Amanatsu-mochi

The full potential of Izu's sweet summer citrus

“Mase” in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is an extremely long-established confectionery shop founded in 1872. They have been making traditional Japanese sweets using Izu ingredients, and the “Amanatsu-mochi” we bought this time is also a rice cake using “Amanatsu mikan” (sweet summer orange) harvested in Izu.

The tray contains 12 rice cakes.

Bite-sized very soft Gyuhi Mochi with Amanatsu mikan (summer mandarin orange) fruit kneaded into it.

The fluffy gyuhi rice cake is filled with Amanatsu citrus peel soaked in honey.

The sweet summer orange peel is wrapped in the simple sweetness of gyuhi, creating a wonderful harmony with the deliciousness of the ingredients as they are. The richness of Izu’s nature could be felt, and at the same time, we were able to taste a highly finished Japanese confectionery.
