Ringo-Namiki

Apple manjuu named after the "apple trees" in Iida City

The “Ringo-Namiki (Apple tree-lined avenue)” is made by Itoya, a Japanese confectionery store in Iida City, Nagano Prefecture, also known as “Little Kyoto” in Shinshu. Itoya continues to make traditional Japanese sweets in Iida City, which is also a castle town, and this “Ringo-Namiki” is a confectionary with a blend of Japanese and Western flavors.

The “Ringo-Namiki” is a 400-meter-long avenue of apple trees planted along a main street in downtown Iida, and is a well-known symbol of the city.

A manju made with apples, a specialty of Nagano Prefecture. The outer dough has a biscuit-like texture.

The inside is filled with baked apple paste.

It has the feel of an apple pie, but with a Japanese finish. The texture of the apple fruit remained just the right amount, and it went well with the cookie-like texture of the manju dough, and the flavor of the apple could be tasted as it is.
