Keiran Manju

Lovely authentic manju with a diameter of 2 cm

Founded in 1790 in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, the “Keiran Manju” from the very long-established “Isshōdō” is the store’s signature product and has a very long history.

What a cute size! About 200 years ago, the founder of Isshōdō ”Daiemon”, created a manju using egg dough kneaded without water, and started selling it under the name of “Keiran Manju”.

Compared to a 500 yen coin, this size is almost the size of a coin. Despite this size, each piece is finished by hand with great care.

The inside is filled with koshi-an (sweet bean paste), which is lightly sweetened, and I think the generous amount of chicken eggs used in the manju skin adds depth to the flavor. Despite its miniature size, it was a very authentic manju.
