Founded in 1931 “Take Seika” in Okinawa City makes candies using Okinawan ingredients, such as “Brown Sugar Candy” and “Tankan Candy” containing mandarin orange juice. The craftsmen carefully make a variety of candies that are unique to Okinawa, and this time I bought a “Shikwasa Candy”.
Shikwasa is a local citrus fruit from Okinawa and Taiwan, and is said to be a very healthy fruit with strong acidity.
The fresh light green is the characteristic color of Shikwasa, and you can see that color in the candy.
The coolness of Shikwasa and the sweet and sour taste are good. Although it is called “Shikwasa Cough drops” there is no menthol or herbs in it, and the taste is gentler than I expected.
