Kanro-no-Uzu
Japanese notation "甘露の渦"
Kurio-Shoten in Tokushima Prefecture is a long-established Japanese confectionery established in 1929 that makes a variety of sweets using “Naruto Kintoki” a sweet potato produced in Naruto. This time, we would like to introduce a Japanese-style sweet potato “Kanro-no-Uzu” made by Kurio-Shoten.
On the package label, under the words “Japanese sweet potato,” and it says “Guerand No,1Salt”. It is not refined salt, but natural salt that is produced when seawater loses its water content due to the sun and wind.
The sweet potato came out housed in a paper cupcake. The top is sprinkled with sesame seeds and baked to a golden brown.
The top surface is crispy, but the entire dough is moist, as if the paste of Naruto kintoki had been used as is.
It also has the look and feel of a well baked pound cake.
The natural sweetness of Naruto kintoki spreads abundantly. Although I could not perceive the salt flavor in detail, I could also sense that it was the “Guerand Salt” that brought these different layers of texture together so well. It was simply delicious and a sweet potato with a high degree of perfection.
