Murasaki Densetsu
Japanese notation "紫伝説"
Sakaiya, a confectioner in Kagoshima Prefecture, is a long-established confectioner with a store in Nishinoomote City on Tanegashima Island, established in 1913.
The “Murasaki Densetsu” I bought this time is a Western-style baked cake made of Tanegashima purple sweet potato bean paste wrapped in pie crust.
The pie crust is round, fluffy, and baked to a golden brown, giving it a homemade look. It is thick, filling, and chunky.
The outer pie is made of several layers of moist dough, giving it a voluminous texture. The inside is filled with purplish azuki red bean paste, clearly showing the originality of the purple sweet potatoes produced in Tanegashima.
It has a delicious, refreshing sweetness that is characteristic of purple sweet potatoes. The volume of the sweet bean paste is large, so you can fully enjoy the flavor of the purple sweet potato and its hokuhokucho texture. The buttery flavor of the pie crust also goes well with the purple sweet potato filling.
