Arareko
Japanese notation "あられこ (七つの里)"
“Arareko” is made in Sakegawa-mura near Shinjo City, Yamagata Prefecture. These sweets are sold under the brand “Nanatsu no Sato(Seven village)” which was launched as a project of the village. It is a wonderful initiative by a group of volunteers in the village who started the “Studio Nanatsunosato” by reusing an abandoned daycare center.
The package label says “Sakegawa-mura Specialty” and has an illustration of ears of rice. The deep-fried arare are made from 100% glutinous rice harvested in the village, giving them a handmade feel.
The color is light and each piece has a light texture.
The outside feels light, fluffy and crispy.
It has a simple taste, but you can deeply feel the original deliciousness of glutinous rice. The taste was made the best use of the potential of the ingredients, as if the sweetness of the glutinous rice could be felt when biting into the rice.
