Taiyodō-no-Mugi Senbei
Japanese notation "太陽堂のむぎせんべい"
Inspired by “Nanbu Senbei” (rice crackers), the founder Kiyoshi Yamaki created “Taiyodo no Mugi Senbei” in Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture, in 1927. It is a well-known confectionary in Fukushima that has been loved for a long time with its unchanged simple taste.
The font of the name of the candy on the individual packages has a nice retro feel. The ingredients are wheat and peanuts, very simple ingredients.
When opened, the surface is smooth and hard to the touch, so much so that it makes a “clang clang” sound when served on a wooden plate.
On the back of the rice crackers are the words “Taiyoudō” and from the feel of the classic typeface, I imagine that the mold of the baking pan has been in use for a long time.
It has a light texture, and when you put it in your mouth, the fragrant aroma of wheat and a hint of sweetness spreads out. The taste of the simple ingredients of wheat and peanuts gently melts in the mouth. The taste is simple, but not bland, and the moderate sweetness lingers in the mouth.
