Chidori-manju
Japanese notation "千鳥饅頭"
I bought “Chidori Manju”, a standard souvenir of Fukuoka City. Chidori-manju is so famous that it has become a well-known confectionery in Fukuoka.
The manju dough is characterized by its bolo-like texture. The roots of this dough seem to lie in castella and round bolo, which were introduced during the Nanban trade, giving it a history that is unique to the Kyushu region.
On top of the manjuu is the well-known “little bird symbol”. Personally, I would like to have polo shirts and bags with this mark.
This silky white bean paste is probably the most characteristic feature of “Chidori Manju”. It has a mysterious texture and a simple, exquisite sweetness that you will never get tired of.
Delicious. After all, the balance between the taste of the bolo-like skin and the white bean paste is exquisite. Chidori Manju” will continue to be a standard souvenir from now on.
