Chikara Anpan

力あんぱん

Anpan, mochi, and sumo wrestlers

“Chikara Anpan” (“Chikara” mean “Power”) made by Orion Bakery in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture, has a sumo wrestler on the package. Hanamaki City is famous as the birthplace of Kenji Miyazawa. It is a city with a nostalgic atmosphere, including “Night on the Galactic Railroad” .

Anpan with mochi ⁈ Do bread and mochi go well together? The bread is the size of a fist, but it is very heavy and filling.

When halved, it is filled with bean jam. And around it is a white chewy layer. This is Daifuku wrapped in bread and baked.

Looking at it from the side, the Daifuku fits very nicely inside the bread.

力あんぱんを食べてみた

Delicious! This may be the first time I have ever eaten food where bread and mochi are so well balanced and harmonized. The thoughtful balance, bread dough and tsubuan (sweet bean paste) are also of high quality. It’s a level of perfection that I wish convenience stores would have.
