Kuri-iri Ocha Yokan
Japanese notation "栗入りお茶羊羹"
Miura Seika, located in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture, makes many confections using its famous tea leaves. One of their most popular products is “Kuri-iri Ocha Yokan” (Tea Yokan with Chestnuts).
Yokan comes in a cute tube-shaped package.
Open the top lid like this and push it out from the bottom. The appearance is somewhat cute.
It contains a tremendous amount of tea leaves, and the yokan itself is dyed the color of tea.
You can see a faint yellowish substance in the center of the yokan, which is a chestnut.
When I cut it in half to check, I found a whole piece in it. And it’s a big one.
The yokan with tea leaves in it had a slightly bitter, yet refreshing taste, and the sweet chestnuts were a luxurious taste with a great presence.
