Goyoutei-no-Tsuki
Japanese notation "御用邸の月"
”Goyoutei”(The Imperial Villa) is a place where the Emperor and members of the Imperial Family visit several times a year for a summer or winter retreat. The “Goyoutei-no-Tsuki” is a custard bun made in the image of the moon that appears at the Nasu Imperial Villa in Nasu-gun, Tochigi Prefecture.
The manju is made of round sponge cake dough. It is so soft and delicate that it seems to fall apart when you hold it tightly.
The custard cream is filled with so much of the same color that you cannot tell the border of the custard cream from the dough.
There are quite a few of these custard buns around the country, and I personally rank them quite high among them.
Perhaps it is because of the large amount of fresh cream, but the delicacy and refreshing sweetness of the custard cream was very delicious.
