Kakoi-Ume
Japanese notation "かこい梅"
”Kakoi Ume” is a Japanese confectionary made of honey-soaked ume fruit wrapped in gyuhi (Japanese sweet made of rice flour).
This product is made by Kaygetsu-do, famous for its “Usu Ogura“. The small size and high quality Japanese paper package give the product a traditional atmosphere.
When the wrapping was unwrapped, what appeared was a bite-sized manju, with a whole plum inside the gyuhi.
Bright red! It really is a whole honey-pickled plum. This is amazing and extremely tasty.
I am relatively not a fan of plums, but these honey-pickled plums are something else. The gyuhi and the sweet plum fruit are just too exquisite. The honey-soaked plums are like a jam, and the plums are like the bean paste in a manju.
Quality backed by a long tradition. This is a dish that many people should definitely try. It was surprisingly delicious. There are plum seeds inside, so be careful when eating it.
As one would expect from Matsue, one of Japan’s top three confectionery destinations!
